Select one to load it individually, or tick multiple and combine them so Claude can build a narrative across all of them — no re-transcription needed.

Step 2 — Build a Timeline

Four ways to build a timeline from your interviews. Pick the one that fits how you work.

A

Let Claude Suggest Angles

Claude reads every interview and suggests 10 editorial directions. Pick one, refine it, then build.

B

Build from Director's Brief

Write what the piece is about — the story, tone, length, key moments. Claude builds a narrative from the interviews that serves your brief.

C

Build from Script

Paste a script, paper edit, or beat sheet. CutLine matches each section to the best interview moments.

Use for structured paper edits with B-ROLL, EDITOR NOTE, VO, and TITLE CARD blocks. Clips are matched from explicit timecodes.
D

Build from Topic Search

Search all interviews for a topic. Select the moments you want and build a timeline from just those clips.

Audio is resolved from the professional WAV tracks in your synced timeline.
Resolve (.fcpxml): captions are embedded directly — open the Captions panel and they'll already be there.
Premiere (.xml): a companion .srt file is saved alongside — import it via File → Import as a caption track. Select 25fps if Premiere asks for a frame rate.
MP4 RENDER

Render an MP4 of the selected beats, saved to your project folder. Requires ffmpeg (brew install ffmpeg).

Live Translate

Listen & Translate

Point a mic at the speaker — CutLine listens in chunks and translates to English. Selecting a language forces translation even when Whisper can't detect it. Note: Whisper natively supports Afrikaans only among SA languages — others use auto-detect with a translate pass.

Rebuild a lost project file

Have an existing edit (low-res MP4) but no project file? CutLine will transcribe it, match every line against the original interview footage, and rebuild a full-resolution Premiere & Resolve timeline.
